A rugby league star has been caught up in a Tinder catfishing scandal after his pictures were used to deceive others looking for love. Fans will learn their clubs’ route through the remainder of the season on Wednesday. As reported by League Express, there were high hopes of being able to release the fixtures to fans today Monday , but the reveal has been pushed back while final changes are made. With the season being shortened, at the very least clubs will have had to reschedule 15 games between August 8 and the end of the season in November.
With neutral grounds being used for the first few rounds of fixtures behind closed doors, fans can expect to see the bigger games loaded towards the end of the campaign, with the hope that clubs will be able to open their gates to spectators once more in late September. Clubs will be asked to play the occasional midweek fixture in order to complete the season but the report claims a large majority of games will take place on either a Saturday or Sunday as part of double or triple headers.
The Giants had put their stadium forward, alongside Leeds, Salford, Warrington and St Helens, to be used for neutral games when the season gets up and running once more.

Super League may have to extend the season into next year to fulfil contractual obligations and the Challenge Cup final may have to move from Wembley. Many within rugby league believe a season that is six weeks old will have to be dramatically altered or extended when Super League is given the green light to restart. The Leeds chief executive, Gary Hetherington, admits that with the Grand Final being held in October, it may now be before this season can be concluded.
He also warned there can be no complaints regarding player welfare when the season restarts and players are asked to play far more frequently than usual. We will have to be playing three times a week. However, if the season is disrupted it becomes an issue and we need to be mindful of that. Hetherington also said the remaining rounds of the Challenge Cup – there are 16 teams left – could be an opportunity for rugby league to provide some live sport for the country in the weeks ahead.

Due to the ongoing implications of the Covid outbreak, New Zealand Rugby League regrets to advise that all NZRL run representative competitions and tournaments have been called off for the remainder of the year. Community and Club competitions and trainings are still currently postponed until May 2 with that date to be reviewed in due course.
Due to the current uncertain revenue lines, these representative competitions would place too big of a financial burden on the Zones. International rugby league has also been cancelled for the foreseeable future, and NZRL has ceased all non-essential expenditure. Although unprecedented, this decision was made fully with the longevity of our game in mind and the important role it plays within our communities.
NZRL will provide a further update on club and community competitions in due course. Once lockdown restrictions are lifted, the focus will be on getting the grassroots game operating as quickly as possible. A spine-tingling haka and a stand off set the tone for the much-anticipated match between the Community Lions and NZ Residents.

This decision was informed by advice provided by government and health organisations with a view to stopping the spread of COVID virus. Guided by the latest advice, the Board of NSWRL today 22 April established a plan for a re-start of Rugby League activities from July to coincide with a common return date for some other winter sports across the state and the commencement of Term 3 in the school year.
The decision to kick-off a shortened Community Rugby League season and to re-start other abbreviated senior competitions will be further reviewed and confirmed by 1 June subject to the existing Government advice available at the time. Accordingly, the earliest possible return date is 30 June , unless the NSW Government decides to lift the Public Health order earlier.
In line with most NSW winter sports, the NSWRL Board has agreed to a competition re-start date of 18 July , coinciding with the end of the next school holiday period and start of Term 3, while allowing a return to training on 1 July

The Super League season will resume on 2 August, more than four months after it was suspended because of the coronavirus pandemic. Three matches will be played on that date at one venue behind closed doors. The revised schedule will contain a further 15 rounds of fixtures, with a four-team play-offs and a Grand Final to follow – set to be in late November. Remaining games will be played at “a small number of neutral venues” until government directives change.
A full round of fixtures will follow during the weekend of August. Our final fixture schedule needs to respond to opportunities that will unfold over the coming weeks and accordingly, full details of fixtures, venues and season structure will be confirmed as they become known. Super League has also said it is “closely monitoring government directives in both France and Canada”, with overseas clubs Catalans and Toronto both among the 12 teams in the top flight.
No matches have been played in the competition since 15 March. It is also hoped that the Challenge Cup can be completed, although dates are yet to be confirmed for its conclusion.
